NEWSLETTER No 81 Issued April 2011 - 20-04-2011NEWSLETTER No 81 Issued April 2011 Thank you! I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who attended and helped in anyway towards the success of our Annual St George’s Day Celebrations. Burnley District were hosted by St Cuthbert’s and following a Scout’s Own Service in their church, they held an entertaining camp fire in the adjacent Community Centre. Pendle District bravely opted for an outdoor parade led by Nelson Brass Band around Seedhill Athletics Ground prior to their Scout’s Own and this was followed by a Family Fun Day which was blessed by brilliant sunshine. Both events were changes to the normal celebrations and they were well received by all who attended. A special thank you goes to all Section Leaders for encouraging a good attendance and also to Pendle Active Support Unit who contributed to the success of both District’s Celebrations. Finally, thank you everyone who attended Burnley’s Annual General Meeting. Congratulations! Congratulations to Sandra Gill and Nancy Mitchell on receiving the Award of Merit in recognition of their “Outstanding Service to Scouting” over many years and also to Neville and Hazel Graham on receiving the Silver Acorn in recognition of their “Specially Distinguished Service to Scouting” over many years. I would like to add my personal thanks to them for their continued support and positive contribution to Scouting in Burnley both at district and group levels. Development Thank you to those Scout Groups who have submitted their thoughts on developing their Groups. I will be talking to the smaller Scout Groups fairly soon to consider ways to help them. In the meantime, I will be pleased to hear from other Scout Groups who haven’t responded to my request in the last Newsletter. I will also be pleased to hear from any leaders who are interested in helping to develop either one or both our Districts.
