Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Leader’s Forum for both districts at Barrowford. Thank you to all who attended Burnley’s Annual General Meeting and enjoyed an informative County update by Glen Fendall, Thank you to Burnley District Scout Fellowship for their “active support” throughout its existence. Sadly, due to a fall in membership, the Fellowship has decided to close after participating in the CONGRATULATIONS! Congratulations to all the young people from Congratulations to Simon Moorhouse, All Saints Habergham, on his appointment as County Nights Away Advisor! DISTRICT DIARIES This is the only time during the year when all scouts in the District come together to share this special occasion and renew their promises. Taking part in this special occasion is one of the most memorable and impressionable events of a young person’s life in Scouting. It is an integral part of Scouting and a valuable opportunity for your young people to share the experience of the worldwide family of Scouting and Guiding. It will be appreciated if all leaders will encourage a good attendance by their young people. If there is likely to be shortage of leaders and Groups need some assistance, please let me know so that we can try to assist. PENDLE DISTRICT St Bartholomew’s Church, Colne. Please meet not later than 1815 for the service at 1830 hrs. This year’s service will be hosted by 1st Colne (Mayor’s Own) Scout Group in recognition of their Centenary and they will be assisted by 16th Pendle (Sacred Heart) Beavers and Cubs. There will be a collection in aid of Scouting in Refreshments (Potatoe Pie) will be provided at the end of the service around 1915 hrs so the evening should end around 1945 hrs. Parents will be most welcome. REHEARSAL FOR FLAG BEARERS AND THOSE TAKING PART ON WEDNESDAY 21 APRIL There will be a short rehearsal for Flag Bearers and those taking part in the prayers and promises on Wednesday 21 April in St Bartholomews starting at 1900 hrs and lasting under an hour so parents may wait in church. BURNLEY DISTRICT St Mary’s RC Church, This year’s service will be hosted will be hosted by St Andrew’s and 1st Briercliffe (St James’) Scout Groups and they will be assisted by Burnley District Explorer Scout Unit and the Scout Fellowship. There will be a collection in aid of the North West Air Ambulance. The parade that follows the service will end outside the Central Library around 1530 hrs. Parents will be most welcome but will be asked to wait until all young people have taken their seats. Guest Speaker: Glan Fendall, Pendle traditionally hold their DISTRICT EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES Pendle: Monday 17 May at PENDLE DISTRICT CUB SKILLS COMPETITION – WEDNESDAY 28 APRIL BORDER SEVENS HIKING CHALLENGE – SUNDAY 2 MAY 2010 Full details of this annual hike for Scouts and Explorer Scouts have been circulated to all Scout Groups and Explorer Units. Young persons join Scouts for a taste of adventure. Border Sevens is an adventurous hike that is within the capabilities of most Scout Troops with the advantage of full back up with check points and CAR WASH – SATURDAY 8 MAY 2010 Matt Blades has arranged a car wash at PENDLE DISTRICT BSL’s & CSL’s MEETING – MONDAY 10 MAY 2010 The next meeting is on 10 May 2010 at Jane’s at 2030 hrs. PENDLE DISTRICT SUMMER CAMP – FRIDAY 20 AUGUST 2010 AT WADDECAR Following last year’s successful camp at Blackhills, Jane has booked A CROCKING DAY OUT Listen to the jungle drums, then follow the trail for details of a crocking day out! COUNTY SKILLS & CHILLS WEEKEND – FRIDAY 21 MAY 2010 Don’t miss this “adults-only” weekend camp! Yes, you can leave your young people at home and brush up on the skills that you know and learn skills that you didn’t know existed. You can chill out for the rest of the weekend. Don’t take my word for it, ask some who went last year. Don’t blame me if you don’t go and then wish that you had gone. Why not join me and my Cubs and stay for the weekend? It is an ideal opportunity for Cub Packs to enjoy a weekend camp with most of Saturday’s programme arranged for you, especially if you are short of leaders or have not got a Night’s Away Permit. If you don’t hold a NA Permit, apply now and use this weekend camp to demonstrate your skills and gain further experience. Beavers will be having their own brilliant Fun Day in September!
