NEWSLETTER No 74 MARCH 2010 - 25-03-2010

NEWSLETTER No 74 MARCH 2010 updated 25 March 2010

THANK YOU!

Thank you to all Scout Groups in Burnley and Pendle for the prompt submission of the Annual Census Returns.

Thank you to over 100 young people and leaders who attended Pendle’s Safety Day!!!

Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Leader’s Forum for both districts at Barrowford.

Thank you to all who attended Burnley’s Annual General Meeting and enjoyed an informative County update by Glen Fendall, County Commissioner who then answered countless questions.

Thank you to Burnley District Scout Fellowship for their “active support” throughout its existence. Sadly, due to a fall in membership, the Fellowship has decided to close after participating in the St George’s Day service.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations to all the young people from Burnley and Pendle who gained their Chief Scouts Gold, Platinum and Diamond Awards, the first Young Leader belt, and received their certificates at the County Awards Presentations ceremonies at Bowley. Congratulations to the three young people who recently completed their Queen’s Scout Award but were unable to be present to receive their certificates. I was very proud that Burnley and Pendle were well represented in the number of award recipients and this reflects the quality of Scouting in our districts which in turn reflects the commitment and enthusiasm of our leaders. Thank you to all leaders for your weekly commitment to helping all our young people achieve the complete range of age-related Challenges and Awards.

Congratulations to Simon Moorhouse, All Saints Habergham, on his appointment as County Nights Away Advisor!

DISTRICT DIARIES

ST GEORGE’S DAY SERVICES IN PENDLE AND BURNLEY

This is the only time during the year when all scouts in the District come together to share this special occasion and renew their promises. Taking part in this special occasion is one of the most memorable and impressionable events of a young person’s life in Scouting. It is an integral part of Scouting and a valuable opportunity for your young people to share the experience of the worldwide family of Scouting and Guiding. It will be appreciated if all leaders will encourage a good attendance by their young people. If there is likely to be shortage of leaders and Groups need some assistance, please let me know so that we can try to assist.
